Visiting Locomotive Lyd (2010)
For a few days in 2010 we hosted the brand new locomotive 'Lyd'. 'Lyd' is a replica of the long lost Manning Wardle locomotives which operated on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway in North Devon; when the original railway closed in 1935 all except one of these locomotives were scrapped - the one survivor was exported to Brazil and has not been seen since. 'Lyd' was started by James Evans, owner of LSR locomotive 'Velinheli', and was built at the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways' Boston Lodge Works in North Wales.
